FOUR ANIMAL SHELTERS HONORED AROUND SOUTH CAROLINA

No Kill South Carolina recognizes efforts of shelters to get animals adopted.

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Four animal shelters from around the state received awards from No Kill South Carolina’s Pick Me! SC statewide adoption event.  The recipients of the first-ever “Most Pawductive” Awards were shelters that did the best job engaging their supporters to come into the shelter and adopt during Pick Me!

“We cannot be more excited that we won this year and we thank No Kill South Carolina so much for everything they do,” said Dorchester Paws Executive Director April Howard.

“The ‘Most Pawductive’ Award-winning organizations took the marketing toolkit we provided and ran with it! They went above and beyond to bring attention to their shelter, adoptable pets, the event, and the families who brought pets home,” said No Kill South Carolina Chief Project Officer Abigail Appleton, PMP, CAWA.

“We’ve come a long way and worked incredibly hard this year, and this award is more evidence that we’re on the right path,” said Humane Society of Greenwood Executive Director Connie Mawyer.

Each winning organization received $1,000 to use toward their lifesaving work. There was one winning organization from each region of the state:

  • Lowcountry: Dorchester Paws
  • Midlands: Kershaw County Humane Society
  • Pee Dee: Darlington County Humane Society
  • Upstate: Humane Society of Greenwood

“We absolutely loved being a part of Pick Me! SC! It was a great morale booster for all–it’s been a while since we had fun like this,” said Kershaw County Rescue Coordinator Clarrissa Glowe.

Pick Me! SC is the largest adoption event of its kind in the country. This July, 2,030 animals from shelters and Petcos across the state were adopted into loving homes.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as the Most Pawductive shelter in the Pee Dee during Pick Me! SC 2023. This award is a testament both to the support of our community and to the unbelievable efforts to care for the animals of Darlington County by our staff and volunteers,” said Darlington County Humane Society President Josh Witten.

No Kill South Carolina 2024 is an initiative of Charleston Animal Society. Pick Me! SC is sponsored by Petco Love and BOBS from Skechers.
